Correction to Today’s “Monitor Mondays”

Original story posted on: April 30, 2014

In last Friday’s (April 24) email to you, announcing today’s “Monitor Mondays” topics and speakers, Ralph Wuebker, MD, chief medical officer for Executive Health Resources, was incorrectly noted as saying that the Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) final rule is no longer applicable for Medicare or Medicare Fee for Service cases during his segment on acceptable observation rates.

Dr. Wuebker notes that 2014 IPPS and the two-midnight rule are still in effect and 100% applicable. Now, under the new two-midnight rule, many of the metrics and benchmarks will likely change, he says, however, due to wide variance of application and adoption, we do not know what those new acceptable rates are.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
