GovKatSebelius150Long considered by many Washington insiders to be a contender for the post of Secretary of Health and Human Services, (HHS) Kathleen Sebelius, the two-term Democratic governor of Kansas, has accepted President Obama's offer to fill the position. Former Democratic Majority Leader Tom Daschle in January bowed out of consideration when it was revealed that he owed more than $128,000 in taxes. Sebelius is the second female governor of Kansas. It was reported recently that while attending the National Governor's Association in Washington on February 23, 2009, Sebelius said "there's nothing really to tell" when asked about her prospects of being nominated to the position.
