Inspector General Daniel Levinson Headlines Live Broadcasts from HCCA

Original story posted on: April 16, 2013

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General Daniel R. Levinson will headline two days of live RACmonitor broadcasting from the Health Care Compliance Association’s 2013 Compliance Institute meeting scheduled for April 21-24 in Maryland.

Levinson and three other Office of Inspector General (OIG) officials will serve as guests of the long-running Monitor Monday Internet radio broadcast. Those other officials include Susan Gillin, deputy branch chief of administrative and civil remedies; Jennifer Trussell, special agent in charge of the investigations branch of the OIG; and Robert DeConti, assistant inspector general for legal affairs. Levinson’s participation in Monitor Monday will be his the second during a HCCA conference and his fourth time on the broadcast since 2012.

“Mr. Levinson will be joining us during our regular Monitor Monday broadcast on Monday, April 22 at 10 a.m. eastern,” said RACmonitor Publisher Chuck Buck, the broadcast’s executive producer and host. “We are pleased to welcome the inspector general to the broadcast and believe that the three other OIG officials will contribute to a broader understanding of the role of Office of Inspector General in uncovering waste, fraud and abuse in the healthcare system – especially since healthcare represents a reported 17.6 percent of the nation’s (annual) gross domestic product, or about $8,233 per person in the U.S.”

Buck said that Monitor Monday will broadcast three additional half-hour programs on Monday and two 30-minute programs on Tuesday. Levinson, Gillin, Trussell and DeConti all are scheduled speakers at the HCCA’s Compliance Institute’s 17th annual conference.

“We are strategically broadening our broadcast content to encompass other important issues facing providers, such as privacy and security, Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), and quality of care,” Buck said. “We will also keep our audience with current topics — those ‘hot’ topics that are red-button issues.”

Buck said the fundamental objective of offering broad-based content was to expand an “engagement between healthcare provider executives and Monitor Monday,” delivering content extending beyond issues regarding the recovery auditors. Buck will be joined by senior Monitor Monday correspondent Nancy Beckley, president and CEO for Nancy Beckley and Associates, who will co-host the broadcasts on both days.
