Nearly Half of U.S. Now Under Notice with Seven Approved Issues

Original story posted on: August 14, 2009

August 14, 2009 --- Recovery Audit Contractor HealthDataInsights (HDI), working Region D - a geographically large area, comprising 20 states - has posted the same previously-approved CMS issues as announced last week by Connolly Healthcare, the first of the four RACs to do so and as reported first last week by RACMonitor.

What's really important notes, Nancy Beckley, MS, MBA, CHC, and a contributing editor for RACMonitor, is that the seven issues reported today by HDI have been approved by CMS for 21 states, clearly noting a trend, as well as an indication that this will produce measurable results.

The added twist: the issues were approved for all 20 states in Region D, including California, which was in the RAC demonstration. Industry experts predict that Florida, Colorado and New Mexico will soon have the same issues approved.

"There should be no surprise that they (HDI) posted the same issues," says Beckley. "We project the other RACs - Diversified and CGI - to be reporting the same CMS approved issues."
