A CMS spokesperson told RACMonitor.com that some providers have been asking questions of their associations. CMS said that it would “be helpful for providers to have a particular point of contact to get their questions answered since they can no longer go to the RACs.”
CMS also advised providers against sending personal health information to the email address.
On November 4, 2008, CMS, as required, imposed an automatic stay in the contract work of the four Recovery Audit Contractors (RAC) program. This action was the result of protests filed by two unsuccessful bidders for the RAC program with the Government Accountability Office (GAO).
